Abstract
In carrying out its duties, the Class IV Tegal KSOP has a role to improve shipping safety towards zero accidents and to carry out guard and patrol in order to improve shipping safety and Tegal port security. To carry out this role based on the Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 36 of 2012 concerning the Organization and Work Procedure of the Port Office and Port Authority, a Sailing Safety, Guard and Patrol section was formed where duties and responsibilities are divided into more detail, so that sea transportation users realize how important it is to comply with regulations to improve shipping safety and the importance of compliance with regulations. related to shipping safety and security in the port environment. The role of this study is to determine the function of Class IV Tegal KSOP in the field of shipping safety supervision in the Tegal Port area, to find out the steps of the sailing safety section, guarding and patrolling in the guard and patrol field in the Tegal Port work area to improve shipping safety in the Tegal Port area. Actions taken to improve security and safety supervision of matters relating to shipping, so that cases of shipping accidents, crimes and irregularities of regulations in the port environment can be reduced or can be overcome.
