Abstract
Cooling system is a system that functions to maintain the engine so that the engine temperature is in ideal conditions. The cooling system is necessary and important. Based on the heat balance on the engine, the cooling function on the main engine becomes important. So to make it easier to use the cooling system there needs to be an improvement plan to follow the procedures of the cooling system guide book. With the treatment, we can find out any obstacles when the treatment is carried out. For this writer to be a knowledge to become a professional ship officer. And it is also useful for the general public to know in detail about the cooling system and its maintenance. The method is the field method. Data and information obtained through observations, namely observations directly in the field where the author carries out the practice. In addition to using the field method, the author also uses (library research), namely by reading and studying books and writings related to the problems discussed by KM.Mutiara Ferindo VII operates in the world In order to support the operation of the ship, maintenance of the cooling system is very much considered. From the results found at the time of observation by the author that the problems that arise can be resolved properly. The author found that coolers must be repaired and maintained regularly. From these observations, that the cooling system on the ship has two types, namely open and closed. Cooling system if lack of maintenance can cause the main engine to (overheat). It is intended to always maintain the cooling system and its supporting devices.
