Abstract
Lubrication is one of the important elements used as lubrication in a machine to reduce wear and tear due to friction and as a cooler and silencer in winches. The use of lubricants greatly affects the performance of the crane because the lubricant functions as a film that prevents friction between the moving components of the crane. Its function is to keep the engine running smoothly and free from interference by iron ropes or rusting as well as as a coolant as well as an insulator which contains a fine thin layer which functions to prevent collisions with other components, preventing scratches and wear and tear on the ship's winch. At high engine temperatures, the viscosity of the lubricant tends to decrease and the lubricant experiences volume expansion, conversely, if the engine temperature is low, the viscosity of the lubricant is still normal, and the lubricant shrinks slowly.
