Abstract
The ship's rudder has the role of changing and determining the direction of the ship's motion, both straight and turning. The ship's rudder is one of the supporting ship performances that plays an important role when sailing as a useful tool to move the ship. Given the important role of the ship's rudder, maintenance and repairs must be carried out so that the rudder of the ship has a long performance period. In order to prevent the danger posed by damage to the ship's rudder, an analysis of the repair and maintenance of the rudder is needed. This study will discuss the repair and maintenance of the ship's rudder on the KM ship Satya Kencana II at PT. Janata Marina Indah. In this repair process, it is used to repair damage to the rudder and the rudder shaft. After the repair is done, the next thing that must be done is the maintenance process so that the rudder and the rudder shaft can work properly. Based on the data collection carried out during the Army Practice (Prada), the authors used several methods, namely observation, interviews, document study, and literature study. The results of the discussion in this paper are that after repairs and maintenance, the performance of the ship's rudder will run well, and there will be no obstacles when the ship is sailing. It is recommended that the rudder have a long validity period and be regularly maintained in order to minimize damage to the rudder of the ship. In conclusion, if the rudder is subjected to regular maintenance and repair, it will prevent damage to the rudder of the ship so that there will be no problems when the ship is sailing.
