Abstract

The number of pollution incidents that occurred in the port of Juwana, the author made observations during land practice regarding the pollution that occurred in the port of Juwana, so the authors compiled a paper entitled "Implementation of Pollution Prevention from Ships by the Port Management Unit Class III Juwana Pati". In activities at the port the author observes what pollution is generated from ships at Juwana port, what is the impact of pollution caused by ships, and how is the implementation of prevention of pollution from ships carried out by the Juwana Class III Port Management Unit Office. From these problems the author examines more deeply how the pollution prevention process is carried out by the Juwana Class III Port Management Unit Office so that the pollution that occurs can be overcome immediately. In this paper the author uses qualitative data types, with sources obtained through data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews, literature research, and documentation. In data collection techniques, the authors made direct observations at Juwana port and conducted interviews with office staff, the authors also took pictures for documentation. From the results of observations, the author knows the factors that cause pollution from ships, namely spilled fuel from ships, domestic waste from ships in preventing pollution, officers at the Juwana Port Management Unit Office conduct outreach to ship crews and give sanctions if they commit violations. The Juwana Class III Port Operations Unit Office needs to supervise and provide direction when refueling ships to prevent pollution and always provide socialization to ship crews about the dangers of pollution to the port environment and marine ecosystems.
