Abstract
The subject matter in writing this paper is the cause of the suboptimal maintenance and operation of lifeboats in KN. SAR Permadi 249. The background of the problems in this paper is the low maintenance of lifeboats on board, efforts to improve the performance of crewmembers in the maintenance and operation of lifeboats and obstacles that occur in maintenance. The purpose of writing the Paper is to find out the causes of low lifeboat maintenance on board, to know the causes of the lack of skill of the crew about the maintenance and operation of the lifeboats and to find out the obstacles that occur in lifeboat maintenance. In the process of collecting data to support the content of this paper, the author uses several methods. Reviewed from the author's source using primary and secondary data. Meanwhile, the author's data collection method uses methods of observation, interviews, documentation and literature or heirlooms. The results of the discussion of this paper are factors that cause low lifeboat maintenance on board due to lack of skilled crew, efforts to improve the skills of crew members by familiarizing, maintaining and routine inspections to be more optimal, obstacles to lifeboat maintenance in KN. SAR Permadi because of SDM's lack of creativity. The conclusion of making this paper is that the low performance of abk is the main factor of suboptimal maintenance, efforts to improve abk performance, obstacles resulting in less than optimal maintenance and operation.
