Abstract
This paper is made to explain about shipping companies. PT. Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (PELNI) branch of Tanjungpinang is a shipping company engaged in the field of ship agency whose duty is to provide ship and cargo services, the process of ship service operations by PT. Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (PELNI) branh of Tanjungpinang starts from the ship docked, the process of loading and unloading activities from the ship and until the ship leaves the port. Ship and cargo service activities at PT. Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (PELNI) branch of Tanjungpinang starts from the ship arriving at the port. Then do the clearance in process submitted to the syahbandar and pelindo to determine the berth and request for scouting services at pelindo. The last ship service is making clearance out which is submitted to the ship for departure. Vessel services in the form of handling documents - ship documents, crew, and ship needs during leaning. Freight service in the form of unloading services and informing the owner of the goods that aims to make the process of ship and cargo services can run smoothly, quickly and safely. To achieve this goal the authors use several methods including methods of observation, interviews, and document analysis, obtained results that: coordination and confirmation are needed so that the activities of ship and cargo services can be carried out properly and errors can be minimized both in handling documents and stewards.
