Abstract

Patimban Port is a port that is still under construction starting in 2019. One of the problems faced by Patimban Port is the non-optimal use of safety equipment. This observation aims to find out how the use of safety equipment for workers at the Patimban port and to find out their efforts in optimizing the use of safety equipment. The impact of the less optimal usage of safety equipment will result in accidents at work. This research uses descriptive qualitative method to describe the object. This method was used to obtain all clear descriptions of the use of safety equipment for the construction workers of the Patimban Port. Based on the research, the use of safety equipment for workers in order to support the development process at Patimban Port is not optimal. It was still found that workers were not wearing safety equipment. The effect of the non-optimal usage of safety equipment means that the safety of workers is not guaranteed, increases the risk of work accidents, and can hinder the construction of the Patimban Port. Efforts that must be made are to coordinate and communicate related to the work of construction workers, remember the regulations in using safety equipment, practice safety equipment, and hold safety meetings for construction workers of Patimban Port.
