Abstract
This essay departs from the phenomenon of oil spills in the sea which often occurs during the bunker process. This is very prone to contaminating marine life and triggering work accidents in the form of fires in the event of an oil spill. For this reason, in this scientific paper, researchers directly review the safe operation of bunkers to avoid marine pollution and prevent work accidents. This research was carried out during Land Practice at PT. Bahtera Othnie Abadi when handling the safe bunker operation process on the MT. Dimas Putra 3 Ship at Patimban Harbor anchorage.Based on the above phenomena, several problem formulations emerged, namely1) What is the procedure for handling bunkers on the ship MT.Dimas Putra 3 by PT.Othnie Abadi, 2) What things must be considered for the implementation of Safe Bunker Operation on the ship MT.Dimas Puta 3, 3) What are the obstacles that occur in the implementation of Safe Bunker Operation at MT.Dimas Putra 3.This research uses descriptive qualitative methodology which is supported by three data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews, document studies, and literature. The results of data analysis, the authors draw a common thread including: (1) MT.Dimas Putra 3 ship using the Ship to Ship (STS) method. Then the series of bunkers on the MT Dimas Putra 3 ship is adjusted to the bunker procedure according to the SOP and approved by IMO, which consists of several stages, including bunker preparation, bunker equipment, and bunker checklists. (2) The efforts to implement safe bunker operations are to implement all safety protocols according to the International Safety Management (ISM) Code; Check all lists of needs for bunkers and prepare work safety equipment. (3) What are the obstacles that occur in the implementation of the bunker, so that in the future we can prevent unwanted events, both those that threaten the lives of the crew and cause losses to the company. Moreover, so as not to pollute the sea caused by oil spills. Keyword: Safe Bunker Operation, Tanker Ship, Patimban Port
