Abstract

Maintenance of fuel on board is very necessary to maintain the quality and quantity of fuel as well as to ensure the ship is always in good condition. With the support of good quality and high quality fuel, so the ship is ready to operate and can reduce unexpected repair costs. The problem that occurs in the fuel treatment system on board the ship is the presence of water and dirt which results in the less than optimal performance of the fuel purifier, due to problems that arise so that the fuel quality decreases. Lack of maintenance on the fuel tank causes sludge to build up at the bottom of the tank. The problems that occur in producing clean fuel for the main engine are the less than optimal performance of the purifier in the fuel purification process and the lack of maintenance on the fuel storage tank. Based on these problems, this paper aims to assist the process of purification of the fuel entering the purifier and to help maximize maintenance of the fuel storage tank by helping to separate mud or dirt from the fuel using fuel oil treatment. The results of the writing are based on the existing problems, namely being able to maximize the performance of the purifier and maintenance of the fuel storage tank in producing good quality fuel to support the smooth running of the main engine. Key word : Fuel, Purifier, Storage Tank, Ship Engine.
