Abstract

Traffic accidents are the main indicator of the level of road safety. In developed countries the problem of road safety is very important to reduce the number of traffic accidents and the number of victims of traffic accidents that occur. The problem faced today is the high number of traffic accidents on the highway. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) predicts that by 2030, traffic accidents will be the fifth largest human killer in the world. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the independent variables, namely the driver factor, road capacity, and vehicle factor on the dependent variable, namely traffic accidents. The population in this study were all users of the western causeway in Pesawaran Regency and the sample in this study was 100 respondents. The technique used was a non-probability sampling technique, namely by using incidental sampling, incidental sampling is a sampling technique based on chance, namely anyone who randomly chance / incidental meeting with the researcher can be used as a sample, if it is deemed that the person who happened to be met is suitable as a data source. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis and quantitative analysis, the data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis with the help of (Software) Statistical Package For Social Science (SPSS) version 22. The results of the research by testing the t-test hypothesis showed that Road Capacity, and Vehicle Factors had a positive and significant effect on traffic accidents, while the driver's factor had a negative and significant effect on traffic accidents. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that the research model of the multiple linear regression equation is Y = 6.308 - 0.179X1 + 0.386X2 + 0.311X3 + . From the multiple regression results, it can be seen that the most dominant variable influencing user decisions is the road capacity variable with a regression coefficient of 0.386. With the r square test of 0.483 or 48.3%, which means that traffic accidents are influenced by driver factors, road capacity, and vehicle factors that are 48.3% and other factors that affect traffic accidents are 51.7%. Keywords: driver factor, road capacity, vehicle factor, and traffic accident
