Abstract

Traffic accidents are the main cause of death with various causes. Traffic accidents in the world and in Indonesia itself have entered an alarming stage according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The formulation of the problem, research objectives and hypotheses in this study is to analyze the effect of the independent variables, namely vehicle factors, traffic characteristics factors, road conditions factors, and environmental factors on the dependent variable, namely traffic safety. In this study, the object taken was the road user of the Manggar City Province. Data sources include primary and secondary data. The sample in this study were 97 respondents who were motorcycle users on the roads of the Manggar City Province. The data analysis technique is multiple linear regression technique Y = -2.004 + 0.295X1 + 0.305X2 +0.235 X3+ 0.317X4 + µ The results of multiple regression research indicate that there is a partial positive effect of vehicle factors on traffic safety (tcount 3,524 > ttable 1,98609), traffic characteristics factors on traffic accidents (tcount 2,799 > ttable 1,98609), road condition factors on safety traffic (tcount 2.735 > ttable 1.98609). And environmental factors on traffic safety (tcount 4,530 > ttable 1,98609). From the regression equation, it can be seen that the most dominant variable affecting traffic safety is environmental factors with a regression coefficient of 0.635 and the coefficient of determination (Adjusted R Square = 0.635) means 63.5% while the rest (100%-63.5 % = 36.5%) influenced by other variables outside the study or outside the regression equation model. Keywords: Traffic Safety, Vehicle Factors, Traffic Characteristics Factors, Road Condition Factors, and Environmental Factors.
