Abstract
The Port Authority Port Authority Office Class I Tanjung Balai Karimun is a government official at the port appointed by the minister. In carrying out its duties and responsibilities in the field of supervision and shipping safety security in accordance with the provisions of the legislation, the role of the harbormaster's office has a very large role and responsibility, even in the event of a ship accident. There are several background problems that the author must solve, namely what are the responsibilities of the Harbormaster's Office in ensuring safety and sailing safety, What are the tasks of supervising sailing safety on the seaworthiness of ships by the Port Authority Class I Tanjung Balai Karimun Port Authority, as well as what are the causes of shipping accidents and how it is handled by the Harbormaster Authority and Class I Authority of Tanjung Balai Karimun Port. To solve the formulation of the problem, here the author uses the data collection method in this writing by observation, interviews and library research that the author collects. The results obtained from this paper are knowing the responsibilities of the Port Authority Port Authority Office Class I Tanjung Balai Karimun in ensuring shipping security and safety, Knowing the supervisory duties of the Port Authority Port Authority Office Class I Tanjung Balai Karimun in improving shipping safety. As well as the factors that cause shipping accidents and their handling. The Port Authority Port Authority Office Class I Tanjung Balai Karimun in carrying out its duties and responsibilities will run smoothly without obstacles if each party can fulfill the procedures that have been set in accordance with the provisions of the legislation.
