Abstract

Transportation Management Service (freight forwarding) is a business activity aimed at managing all activities required for the delivery and receipt of goods via land, sea, or air transportation which may include receiving, document settlement, issuance of transportation documents, calculation of transportation costs, insurance claims. For the delivery of goods and settlement of invoices and other costs relating to the delivery of the goods until they are received by the recipient. With the important duties and role of freight forwarding service providers, they must also have procedures that ensure the safety and satisfaction of service users. The procedure for managing transportation services (freight forwarding) is divided into 3 (three) based on the time of the activity, namely before the activity, during the activity, and after the activity. The discussion in this paper is “procedures for service (freight forwarding) during the loading and unloading of coal” which is one of the important procedures in all activities after activity planning. In this procedures the role of the service provider (freght forwarding) consists of Supervision, Weighing, Providing travel document, Making daily reports, to Making final reports. In addition to organized service procedures, there are also obstacle that affect aspects of activity, namely: Lack of Number of Goods Transport Vehicles and Bad Weather Constraints, so that various prevention and handling efforts are needed from the impact generatedby these problems, such as activities that take longer time, and the process of shipping goods. Becomes obstructed which is very detrimental to the owner of the goods and not only the owner of the goods but the workers will also feel the impact of bad weather constraints such as lack of visibility which causes the rate of work accidents to be high. Therefore, the best efforts must be made for all activities so as not to harm any party, such as: increasing the number of vehicles, immediately stopping all activities, and always being alert to problems that may occur.
