Abstract
Ships as a means of transportation hold an important role in the daily life of indonesian citizen. It is to transport both passengers and cargoes. Therefore, the competencies and proficiencies of the seaman take an important roles. One of the proficiencies is watchkeeping duties. It is a duty to stand guard the ship while on voyage. The purpose of the study is know how to optimalize the watchkeeping duties implementation on boat of TB. Midai on rivers. The data collecty method used were observation, interview, library. The result of this study is that officers and or crew ship on watchkeeping duties should follow all the procedure, rule and make the necessary preparation. When sailing on a river cruise line. Keywords : Optimization, Guard servive, Navigation, Shipping channel, Tug boat.
