Abstract

This research is motivated by the presence of a median opening in the geometry of the road which is partially not equipped with traffic signs on the Semarang-Demak highway, causing a fairly high increase in vehicle volume. Then dominated by heavy vehicles and some are included in the category of ODOL trucks. In addition, the condition of potholes (damaged) with road capacity that is often reduced due to the many side obstacles is also one of the problems on this road segment. And also the lack of vigilance from high-speed vehicle drivers is also one of the factors for the lack of safety levels on the Semarang-Demak highway. The next problem is the number of traffic violations that occur such as 2-wheeled vehicles that go against the flow and do not use helmets. The purpose of this study was to analyze whether road geometry, effectiveness of ODOL truck supervision, road conditions, driver vigilance and law enforcement affect traffic safety on the Semarang-Demak Highway. The method used is a quantitative method. Data were collected by using a questionnaire technique. Respondents in this study were 100 people who crossed the road. Five hypotheses were formulated and tested using Regression Analysis. The regression result is Y = 0.576 + 0.218 X1 + 0.208 X2 + 0.129 X3 + 0.158 X4 + 0.230 X5 + e. The results showed that road geometry, effectiveness of ODOL truck supervision, road conditions, driver vigilance and law enforcement had a significant relationship with traffic safety. And the five variables have a positive value indicated by the results of the hypothesis test (T test).
