Abstract

This paper aims to determine the role of the Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) in Tanjung Priok is sufficient to provide benefits to port facility users. The writing of this paper was conducted to find out whether the implementation of VTS as a form of technological progress in the maritime world has been fully enjoyed by shipping service users. VTS is a ship traffic service in an area that is mutually integrated and implemented by an authorized party (the Minister of Transportation) and is designed to improve ship safety, navigation efficiency and protect the environment, which has the ability to interact and respond to traffic development situations. Crossing ships in the VTS area by means of radio equipment and shipping electronics. VTS is recognized internationally as part of the navigation safety standards through the international convention on Safety of Life at Sea or Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) 1974/1978. In particular the provisions in SOLAS Chapter V (Navigation Safety). The data provided is very important in ship safety. The purpose of the author in compiling this paper is to find out and understand the role of VTS and other electronic navigation tools for navigation purposes. Data collection methods used were observation, interviews and literary methods. The results of this paper can be concluded that the company has an obligation to provide navigation tools in accordance with predetermined rules and the staff of VTS operators can make the most of them. facilities and equipment owned by the Tanjung Priok Class I Navigation District Working Area, in the form of SBNP, Coastal Radio Stations (SROP) with VHF/MF/HF emission coverage, Port Communications Radio stations with VHF emission coverage, VTS stations, Installation Classification State Ships, Beacon Tower Installations, as well as the National Fleet of Navigation. Technology and information can provide opportunities for service users to get better services which will further improve the smoothness of sea transportation. Based on the results of the Land Practice, it can be concluded that VTS service users are satisfied with the services provided to ships. The information system owned by VTS Tanjung Priok is quite effective in providing information related to shipping in Tanjung Priok. VTS gives a sizeable economic role to the state through the payment of PNBP. Keywords: Navigation,Traffic Servic, Standard Operating,Procedures, Tanjung Priok Port.
