Abstract
Shipping safety is very important and occupies a central position in all aspects of the shipping world. Aspects attached to safety and security relating to transportation in waters and ports. Shipping safety is defined as a condition where the safety and security requirements related to transportation in waters and ports are met. This study aims to determine the effect of the role of porters, sailing approval letters, and ship's seaworthiness partially or simultaneously on shipping safety. The population in this study were crew members (master, commander I, officer II, commander III) and the sample of this study was 90 respondents. The sampling technique was non-probability sampling with the type of sampling, namely purposive sampling. Analysis of the data used in this study is descriptive analysis and quantitative analysis, the data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis with the help of (software) Statistical Package For Social Science (SPSS) version 25. The results of testing the hypothesis partially or simultaneously indicate that the role of the porter is , sailing approval letter, and ship's seaworthiness have a positive and significant effect on shipping safety. Based on the research results, it can be seen that the research model of the multiple linear regression equation is: Y= -1.135 + 0.342.X1 + 0.365.X2 + 0.355.X3 + . From the regression equation, it can be seen that the most dominant variable affecting shipping safety is the sailing approval letter variable with a regression coefficient of 0.365. The R2 (R Square) test obtained results of 0.699 or 69.9% which means that shipping safety is influenced by the variables of the porter's role, sailing approval letter, and ship's seaworthiness which is 69.9% and other factors that affect shipping safety by 31, 1% or 0.311. Keywords : Shipping Safety, Ship's Seaworthiness, Role of Harbormaster, and Sailing Approval Letter.
