Abstract

KN. Prajapati is one of four navigation vessels in the Cilacap Class III Navigation District Office. Equipment and knowledge of navigation equipment are very important for a sailor in ensuring the safety and security of ships when anchored or sailed. The modernization of navigation equipment that has evolved with the times has greatly assisted in determining the position of ships on the surface of the earth. According to the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) convention, all ships must have electronic navigation equipment, one of which is the Echo Sounder. The data provided is very important in designing a passage plan. The purpose of this study is to know and understand the role of Echo Sounder and other electronic navigation devices for navigational purpose The data collection method used are observation, interview and literature methods. The results of this study can be concluded that the company have the obligation toprovide navigation equipment in accordance with the rules and ship officers can use it as optimal as possible.
