Abstract
In maintaining and improving the quality of the operation of ships that serve the transportation of passengers, vehicles, and goods, special skills and work skills of ship crews are needed. The number of cases of ship accidents such as shipwrecks, collisions, fires, ran aground, people falling into the sea, damage to the rudder and pollution at sea or work accidents while on board the ship shows an indication that the quality of human resources is not optimal even though other factors are also a factor. the causes of the types of accidents mentioned above, the application of the International Safety Management Code (ISM Code) on board the ship is very influential in the safety of the crew on board and the ship crew must always improve work discipline on the ship considering that most accidents occur on ship crews who have not accustomed to working safely, so that accidents do not occur on the ship. The purpose of this observation is to find out how to apply the International Safety Management Code (ISM Code) on ships in order to minimize the occurrence of work accidents and increase the importance of work discipline on ships and to know the problems and impacts of work accidents on ships. The method used in this observation is the method of observation (observation). In addition to using this method, the author also uses the interview method (interview). From the observations made by the author, it was found that the crew of the MV. Kendhaga Nusantara 11 has implemented the International Safety Management Code (ISM Code) well and has understood the importance of implementing the International Safety Management Code (ISM code) on the ship so that the ship's crew can carry out work on the ship properly and can minimize work accidents on board. boat.
