Abstract
The role of ships is very much needed in the export-import world and is also used as the mobility of the population between islands in supporting their operational activities, so the ship cannot be separated from the existence of the main engine, which is used for various activities that support the smooth operation of shipping. Therefore, it is necessary to have regular and planned maintenance to maintain the stability of the lubrication system in the main engine. The lubrication system is a regular way of working between the main lubricating parts and lubricating oil to carry out lubrication so as to achieve the goal, namely lubricating the parts that are lubricated. The purpose of this study was to determine the working of the lubricating system that was less than optimal, the planned maintenance method, and the causes of the declining condition of the lubricating oil and the lubrication system so that they are expected to support a more optimal operation of the main engine in KT. Selat Legundi. The methods used by the author in the study are the method of observation, the interview method, and the library method. The cause is the lack of maintenance of the lubrication system, resulting in less than optimal engine performance. These results can be concluded to be used as guidelines for carrying out routine and well-planned maintenance so that the lubrication system process can work perfectly. Keywords : Maintenance, Lubrication.
