Abstract
The Importance of Understanding and Knowledge of Radar Operations for Deck Officers when entering and exiting Semarang port at night. In a maritime country like our country, sea transport facilities play an important role, as well as ship equipment facilities that must be adequate, especially in terms of navigation to be safe while sailing, radar is a very important navigation tool especially for safety when making voyages, especially when the ship goes in and out of the port at night, the purpose of writing this final project is to find out the role of radar on the ship, when I do land practice at PT. Swadaya Wira Maritim Semarang Branch. The data used are primary and secondary data obtained through interviews, observations, and literature studies, the data obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis methods After analyzing it can be concluded that the lack of optimal use of radar on board, due to the lack of maximum duty officers in an effort to use radar, as well as from observations during ground practice still found the guard officers were less than fulfilling the responsibility of operating radar on board, even though radar is very important for safe navigation.
