Abstract
Talking about safety procedures while on board, one of them is by paying attention to the stability of the ship, by carrying out ballasting and deballasting activities for seawater when loading or unloading cargo. In the implementation of Ballasting and Deballasting on Mv. Global Diamond, there are problems where the skills of the crew in Ballasting are still lacking, and the implementation of Ballasting and Deballasting is not according to the procedure. In the implementation of Ballasting and Deballasting, it must be carried out step by step in accordance with applicable provisions and procedures, with the aim of knowing the procedures and mechanisms in their implementation. In writing this paper the author uses a qualitative method with an analytical observational problem approach. That is by observing the existing activities and conducting direct interviews with the crew of the MV.Global Diamond. From the observations, it is concluded that the Ballasting and Deballasting procedures that are not in accordance with the provisions and not in accordance with the procedures can cause an influence on the stability of the ship both internally and externally. So the suggestion is to conduct a briefing and familiarization with the crew before Ballasting and Deballasting regarding the appropriate procedure.
