Abstract
Controllable Pitch Propeller is a propeller that can change / adjust the propeller pitch. Pitch is the axial distance taken / taken by the propeller at one full rotation (3600). The purpose of this study is to learn how to treat and operate a propeller pitch control so that we can maintain the service life of the tool. The method of data collection used is direct observation and literature study in the form of information obtained from the ship KRI BELADAU-643. The principle works using a hydraulic system that is by transmitting oil fluid to a housing that is located on the propeller boss, in the housing there is a rotor that is connected to the leaf propeller (blade), so that if the fluid is flowed in the forward direction then the oil will push the separating fin on the rotor and push it so that it rotates the leaf of the propeller with a certain angle, if the direction of the flow is reversed then the leaf of the propeller will rotate towards the opposite. Operation can be done with two systems, namely the pull-push rod system and the piston system hub. In the pull-push rod system long rods are connected from the shaft to the propeller hub. While on the piston hub system, the piston rod is placed on the propeller hub. Pitch Propeller controllable has several advantages compared to other types of propellers. The use of CPP (by changing pitch) will make it easier for us to change the engine speed on the ship which aims to reduce vibration and excessive noise on the engine, as well as for the pitch to be changed to reduce cavitation at various engine turns. Once the importance of the Pitch Propeller Controllable is on board, it is necessary to check and maintain it so that its performance remains maximum. Caring for components. After regular maintenance, it will detect anything that is the result of treatment. From these results, it is expected that the main engine performance will be perfect and optimal, the ship will sail nationally and not be afraid of any damage in the event of trouble.
