Abstract
Oily Water Separator (OWS) is type of auxiliary machinery on board. It is used for separating two substances that can’t dissolve caused by density difference. The background of this paper writing is often fault occurred on OWS. This case was caused by planned maintenance that wasn’t carried out appropriately based on manufacturer. The purpose of this paper writing is in order to know the faults that often occurred on OWS. Maintenance and repair on OWS and planned maintenance on OWS wasn’t working well. So that faults can be identified and diagnosed for giving overcome on OWS. The writer used descriptive method in order to get the primary data and secondary data. Primary data is catched by the writer directly with observation on MV. Sumber cahaya’s OWS and interview with the engineers. Secondary data is catched by ship particular, manual book, management of maintenance book and company’s data. The faults that often occurred on OWS consist of Oil Level Sensor isn’t working well.The other fault is high pressure of separator tank that caused by dirty coalescer filter and lack of air pressure in the three way valve. Maintenance and repair of aircraft OWS, which include: maintenance of Oil Sensor Level. It serves as a means of detecting oil content. Maintenance of the coalescer filter within the tank OWS.
