Abstract
Traffict congestion is a situation or state of stagnation or even cessation of traffic caused by the large member of vehichles exceeding road capacity. If traffic flow is approaching capacity, congestion strats. One of the traffic problems in land transportation which is quite difficult to face today is the low ability to provide road network infrastructure, while the level of vechile flows is increasing. Such conditions result in traffic congestion on various roads. This study aims to determine the effect of traffic volume, parking characteristic and side abstacles partially and simultaneously on traffic congestion on the Magelang Tidar road section. The population in this study were Magelang Tidar road users with asampe of 100 respondents. The sampling technique used is probability sampling with a type of sampling that is simple random sampling. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis with help analysis of (software) Statistical Package For Social Science (SPSS). The result of this study indicate that the variable traffic volume, parking characteristic, and side barriers have a partial effect and simultaneously on traffic congestion on the Magelang Tidar road section. The result of multiple linear regression analysis obtained the equation Y = 1,114+ 0,241X1 + 0,304X2 + 0,309X3 + µ. From the regression equation, it can be seen that the most dominat variable influencing traffic congestion is thevariable barriers tothe side with a regression coefficient 0,309. With the R2 (R Square) the test result are 0,232 or 23%, which means that the traffic jams on the Magelang Tidar road are affected by variable traffic volume, parking chararcteristic, and side barriers, which is 23,2% and other factors which affect traffic congestion on the Magelang Tidar road is 76,8%.
