Abstract

This research was motivated by the increasing needs of the public, including in the field of sea transportation. In the world of transportation, the problem that is currently happening is the increasing competition in the business world which will affect transportation entrepreneurs for business development. KSOP class 1 Tanjung Balai Karimun as one of the companies engaged in the sea transportation services that will always provide the best service and satisfactory. The purpose of the research is to determine the effect of locus of control, individual characteristics, job characteristics, and goal orientation on employee performance on KSOP class 1 Tanjung Balai Karimun. The sample in this research were 50 respondents with sampling technique of Purposive Sampling. The analysis used in this research is descriptive analysis and quantitative analysis, data is analyzed by using multiple linear regression analysis with Statistic Package For Social Science (SPSS) version 24 software. The result of the research by testing the t-test hypothesis partially shows that the locus of control, individual characteristics, job characteristics, and goal orientation have positive and significant influence to employee performance. Based on the research results can be seen that the research model of multiple linear regression equation is: Y = 1,940 + 0,152 X1 + 0,206 X2 + 0,012 X3 + 0,546 X4 + µ. The result of multiple linear regression equation shows that there is partially positive influence between the locus of control to employee performance (t count = 2,181> t table = 2,012), individual characteristics to employee performance (t count = 2,222 > t table = 2,012), job characteristics to employee performance (t count = 3,179> t table = 2,012), goal orientation to employee performance (t count = 5,035 > t table = 2,012) Keywords: locus of control, individual characteristics, job characteristics, goal orientation and employee performance
