Abstract

Navigating is part of the activity of sailing ships from one place to another. Knowledge of tools is very important for a bridge guard officer to sail a ship. The purpose of making this scientific paper is to ensure navigation equipment on board in accordance with Safety Of Life At Sea (SOLAS), improve navigation systems at KN. PRAJAPATI to conform to Safety Of Life At Sea (SOLAS), enhances the officers' ability to navigate and move around. The research method used is the interview method and descriptive method that is describing navigation. The results or use of this research can be input so that the District Navigation Class III of Cilacap pays more attention to the condition of navigation equipment on the ship, if damaged is repaired, and if it cannot be repaired immediately replaced, because if not immediately replaced or repaired it will disrupt the navigation process . If the District recruits officers it is better to choose those who have good expertise and are competent in their fields and are given familiarization when they first board the ship, for the bridge officers to be more responsible for their guardianship and can operate optimally when navigating so the ship can navigate properly and arrived safely. Based on the results of the study concluded that the lack of development of navigation tools that are on board the KN.
