Abstract
The importance of the main engine in a ship, efforts need to be made in handling the maintenance of the main engine lubrication system as the main propulsion tool on a ship, Lubricating oil in an engine system serves to minimize friction on the surface of moving components as a cooling fluid in the engine. Based on the results of writing and findings in the field, the main engine lubrication system on the Ship Propeller Oil Barge (SPOB) Mary uses a wet charter lubrication system and lubricating oil changes are always carried out after the lubricating oil cannot work optimally to lubricate the main engine. The purpose of this paper is to determine the process of carrying out maintenance of the main engine lubrication system, to find out the constraint factors when carrying out maintenance of the main engine lubrication system. Sources of data in this observation using primary and secondary data, the data collection method used in this is obtained from observations, interviews, document techniques, according to the time of data collection and literature study. The results of this paper indicate that it is possible to find out how to maintain the main engine lubrication system, in order to minimize the occurrence of damage to the main engine, to know the obstacle factors when carrying out the main engine lubrication maintenance system. It can be concluded that the maintenance of lubrication on the main engine includes checking the quantity of lubricant, checking the quality of the lubricating oil, checking the lubricating oil tank, checking the oil filter, checking the oil pump.
