Abstract
Exhaust gas valve is one type of valve which is the main component in a diesel engine that functions as a valve to open and close the flow of gas left from combustion that comes out of the cylinder or combustion chamber to the exhaust valve manifold. The exhaust valve has a very important role to improve the performance of the main engine and is also very influential on the smooth running of the engine when traveling in the middle of the sea. The purpose of this paper is to determine the cause of interference with the main engine exhaust valve. The method used in this paper is the method of literature and observation as a method to determine the priority of the existing problems. The results of the discussion in this paper include knowing how to maintain the exhaust gas valve, knowing the cause of a faulty exhaust valve, improving the performance of routine maintenance on the exhaust valve. In conclusion, the problem with the exhaust valve is that the valve gap setting is not right, causing the valve to be too narrow or loose. This will also reduce valve stroke, wear and possibly cause the valve to break. And it is recommended for maintenance or inspection according to the working conditions of the machine to keep it optimal. Pay attention to the factors that cause damage to the exhaust valve, this is done so that if one of these factors occurs disturbances can be addressed properly. Keywords : Exhaust valve, Valve Damage, Valve Maintenance.
