Abstract

Optimization Of Use Of Lightweight Fire Extinguishers (APAR) For Safety In Owned Passenger Ship PT. Dharma Lautan Utama PT. Dharma Lautan Utama was inspired by Indonesia's unique geographical conditions. In supporting the national economy the role of the Sea transport industry is very important and irreplaceable, namely as infrastructure facilities, namely transportation equipment. With the territory of Indonesia which has more than 17,000 islands and 60% more of its area consists of water, then to ensure smooth distribution of goods (logistics) and services throughout Indonesia are not easy tasks, both for the government and the private sector. The purpose of this paper is to improve the ability, knowledge, skills and work discipline and the sense of responsibility of officers and crew, in carrying out work on board and to provide direction on the importance of optimizing and improving maintenance of fire extinguishers on boats to children ship fruit and junior officers. The method of writing this paper uses field studies and literature studies that use observation and interview techniques. The results of this paper show that the role of lightweight fire extinguishers (APAR) provides optimism in the safety of the ship.
