Abstract

Coal is an alternative energy which includes rapid growth, both in terms of production and consumption. In addition to its more efficient use, coal is also available in abundance in Indonesia, thus providing the possibility for consumption in the long term, so coal has a very important role in supporting economic activities, especially in the industrial sector. The purpose of this study was to determine the process of loading and unloading bulk coal by PT. Adhiguna Putera Branch Banten at the PLTU UP Suralaya Banten dock, the obstacles faced and efforts to overcome obstacles in the process of loading and unloading bulk coal. This research is a type of qualitative research with the object of PT. Adhiguna Putera Branch Banten. The results of the study stated that coal bulk cargo required appropriate handling and unloading equipment to facilitate the process of unloading coal bulk cargo from ships to the stacking area. Obstacles that occur in the unloading process are the lack of discipline of loading and unloading workers and Ship Unloader operators on unloading performance, damage to the Wheel Loader during the unloading process, delays in docking ships due to taking agency documents that are too long, delays in checking unloading documents by the PLTU, manufacturing errors. documents due to negligence of officers and delays in unloading due to bad weather. Efforts are being made to overcome the obstacles that occur, namely by giving warnings and affirmations to undisciplined loading and unloading workers, periodic maintenance and checks on the Wheel Loader before and after loading and unloading activities, early processing of agency documents, limitation of time for document inspection. unloading a maximum of 3 days after the ship has finished unloading, evaluating employee accuracy in making documents, temporarily stopping unloading when bad weather occurs when the loading and unloading process takes place Keywords : Coal, Bulk Unloading, Handling and Unloading Equipment
