Abstract

Waiting time for ships is one of the problems that must be of particular concern in every country, especially in sea transportation. Sea transportation is a meeting point for areas that are far from the center of activity, especially economic activities. Surabaya Tanjung Perak Port is very influential for the smoothness of trade and industrial transactions for economic activities. If the port's performance is not optimal, it will have a direct impact on service in the field so that it will cause new problems, namely waiting time for ships which will lead to high cost economies. This study aims to determine the factors that affect Guiding Services, Availability of Piers and Document Services on ship waiting times. This research was conducted at Terminal Nilam as a sample. Data was collected through observation, literature study, interviews, documentation and questionnaires. The analysis technique used is multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS V.20 program. Based on the results of research and multiple analysis, the following equations are generated: Y = 12,201 - 0,257X1 -0,102 X2 -0,146 X3 +  Based on empirical facts and the results of multiple linear regression equations, it shows that the pilot service variable (X1) has (tcount -5.634 < ttable 1,98498), the dock availability variable (X2) has (tcount -2.435 < ttable 1,98498) and document service (X3) has tcount (-4.332 < ttable 1,98498). As for the value of the adjuster R2 = 0.528. This means that 52.8% of the dependent variable (Y) can be explained by the independent variables, namely scouting services, dock availability and document services. While the remaining 100% - 52.8% = 47.2% is explained by other reasons other than the variables studied. Thus the results of the study indicate that Guidance Services, the availability of docks and document services have a negative and significant effect on waiting time for ships at Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya.
