Abstract

Indonesia is maritime country which has a large area. Two-thirds of the area is ocean. This country is supposed to have a big potential to supply fish in fulfill the needs and demands of domestic market. But in reality, Indonesia still imports fishery products from abroad. This research was conducted in one of the logistics companies in Surabaya, while the type of research used in this writing is descriptive-associative which in its explanation refers to quantitative and qualitative data. Data collection is done by helping work, observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study. The results of the interview are used to determine events in the field and to answer the problem formulation descriptively. The research results concluded that fish importation was carried out as a support for industrial supporting raw materials as well as to fulfill market and community demand. The handling of imported fish is regulated in relevant laws and supervised by the relevant ministries to protect the interests of the country's economy and ensure the quality and quality of imported fish. Logistics company as the authority of the importer, is appointed in handling fish importation to fulfill all the requirements and processes required for the fish to be licensed for importation into Indonesian customs areas.
