Abstract

Congestion is a condition in which the traffic flow that passes on the road in question exceeds the capacity of the road which results in queues. Currently, traffic jams are a common occurrence we see both in the morning, during the day and late in the evening. This problem occurs due to various factors such as side friction, an increase in the number of vehicles with unbalanced road conditions so that in addition to causing congestion it can also cause traffic accidents. This problem is also an old problem for which no proper solution has yet been found. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the independent variables, namely side friction, increased number of vehicles, and road conditions on the dependent variable, namely traffic congestion. In this study, the object taken was the driver of the road user on the Kawasan Cipta Raya Semarang road. The sample of this study was 100 respondents with the technique used is non-probality sampling technique, namely by using Incidental Sampling, which is a sampling technique by chance or anyone who happens to meet the researcher can be used as a sample. This research model is multiple linear regression analysis. Based on the results of research and multiple linear analysis, the equation Y=3,693 + 0,094X1 + 0,349X2 + 0,291X3 + µ is produced. The results of the multiple linear regression equation show that there is no positive and significant effect between side friction on traffic jams (tcount 1.575 <ttable 1.984), while an increase in the number of vehicles has a positive effect on traffic congestion (tcount 4,314> ttable 1,984), and road conditions that have a positive effect on traffic congestion (tcount 3,980> ttable 1,984). The effect of the three research variables was obtained with a correlation value Adjusted R2 = 0.398. Simultaneously the side friction variables, the increase in the number of vehicles and road conditions had an effect on 39.8% of traffic jams and the remaining 60.2% were influenced by research variables that were not detected in this study. . Keywords: Side Barriers, Increased of Vehicles, Highway Conditions, Traffic Congestion.
