Abstract
The Office of Harbormaster and Port Authority Class III Pulau Baai Bengkulu is a Technical Implementing Unit within the Ministry of Transportation which is under and responsible to the Director General of Sea Transportation, based on the Minister of Transportation Regulation Number PM 76 of 2018, as amended by the Minister of Transportation Regulation Number PM 36 of 2012 Regarding the Organization and Administration of the Port Office and Port Authority, it is stated that the port office and port authority have the task of carrying out supervision and law enforcement in the field of shipping safety and security, coordinating government activities at ports as well as regulating, controlling and supervising port activities at commercially operated ports . The party inspecting the ship is the Marine Inspector who is an official at the Bengkulu Class III port office. The inspection aims to find out whether the ship is seaworthy and whether it is marine will be given a seaworthy certificate, and for non-marine vessels, it is not allowed to sail before meeting the seaworthy requirements of the ship. The purpose of this paper is to find out the procedures and mechanisms for inspection of ships by the Marine Inspector at the Bengkulu Class III port authority and port authority office. The method used by the author is a qualitative method, because the researcher tries to explain the role of the Marine Inspector when examining the ship's marine life.
