Abstract

This paper discusses the problem of maintenance of the intake valve and exhaust valve of the Yanmar 6AYM-WST main engine and to better understand how to carry out maintenance of the intake valve and exhaust valve of the main engine. This paper was carried out on the SPOB Seroja VIII ship. The data sources used are primary data and secondary data, while the analytical methods used are observation and discussion. The results obtained from this paper are that after carrying out maintenance can reduce damage, can find out procedures for maintenance on valves, can find out the cause of damage to valves and how to handle them, can distinguish between valves before maintenance and after maintenance and use of valves beyond working hours can cause damage such as cracks in the valve so that it is necessary to carry out maintenance according to valve working hours.
