Abstract
All ships berthed at the port will be subject to ship inspection, ship inspection aims to determine whether the ship is seaworthy or not and if it is declared seaworthy, a ship certificate will be issued, and for ships that are not seaworthy, they are not allowed to sail before fulfilling the ship-worthy requirements, this is aimed at know the technicalities of people's shipping from the safety aspect and the factors that cause accidents. The purpose of the author in making this paper is to determine the Role of the harbormaster Rembang in Ensuring the Safety of People's Shipping. The data collection methods used by the author in this paper are Field Research Methods and Literature Study Methods. The result of this paper show that the class III Rembang port management unit has the obligation and responsibility to ensure the safety of public shipping. It can be concluded that the role of the rembang class III port administering unit in ensuring the safety of the people’s shipping, there are still several factors that become obstacles, but the officers of the harbormaster Rembang as much as possible in carrying out their duties in order to realize the safety of the people’s shipping.
