Abstract

The starter dynamo is one part of the system on the A / E (auxiliary engine) of the auxiliary engine on the ship, which plays an important role in supporting the smooth performance of the engine. The dynamo starter functions to provide initial rotation on the auxiliary engine so that it can run its working system, namely by converting electrical energy into motion energy to rotate the fly wheel through the pinion gear on the starter dynamo, and then it can work by providing engine rotation through the combustion cycle in the combustion chamber The writing of this paper uses descriptive and qualitative methods, primary data is obtained from the Prada place, secondary data is obtained from the internet, articles, journals, and other documents related to this writing. In this dynamo starter operating system is used to determine where in the critical operation of the dynamo starter so that failure can be minimized in the starter operating process. While the maintenance system will be considered in decision making so that all maintenance activities at the dynamo starter will be carried out when the starter system is approaching the deadline of working hours. The main maintenance carried out on the dynamo starter, to minimize the risk of damage to the dynamo starter, a maintenance is carried out on its component components such as checking brushes (charcoal brushes), solenoid, commutator, armature, field coil. In addition, a maintenance schedule is set that aims to avoid failure of the maintenance process on the dynamo starter. In the above understanding, of course, requires a method in collecting data related to dynamo starter, which is about maintenance, repair, replacement of damaged parts.
