Abstract
Maintenance of fuel on board is very necessary to maintain the quality and quantity of fuel as well as to ensure that the ship is always in good condition. With the support of good quality fuel and high quality, so the ship is ready to operate and can reduce unexpected repair costs. The problem that occurs in the fuel maintenance system on board is the presence of water and dirt which results in less than optimal performance of the fuel purifier, as a result of problems that arise so that the fuel quality decreases. The low quality of fuel that is not in accordance with the procedure can result in bad fuel because it is not clean, so that the combustion that occurs is not perfect to purify the fuel and often there is a large amount of sludge and water deposition at the bottom of the fuel storage tank. The lack of performance of the tools in the fuel handling system results in the fuel supply to the engine being less than optimal so that it has an impact on the performance in the operation of the ship's engine. The purpose of this is to purify and improve the quality of the fuel by purifying the impurities present in the material through the fuel cleaner and checking the fuel storage tank that is less than optimal. The results of the writing are based on existing problems, namely that it can produce good quality and high quality fuel and maximize the performance of the tools in the fuel handling system. Key word : Fuel, Purifier, Storage Tank, Ship Engine.
