Abstract
The plunger pump is a pump where the mechanical energy from the pump drive is converted into flow energy using reciprocating elements in the cylinder. The plunger pump is a long steel cylinder, the packing is located constant (stationary) on the inside of the cylinder. The difference with a piston pump is that it is longer and the gasket is attached to the cylinder. Where as in the piston pump, the gasket is attached to the piston itself. The principle of a reciprocating pump is to use a plunger or piston that moves from the lower dead center to the upper dead center to suck the liquid into and push it back out of the cylinder. However, during the operation there was a plunger congestion so that the water in the gutter got stuck. After conducting research using the fault tree analysis method, the causes of plunger congestion are the sump tank lacking lubrication oil, damage to the seal in the liquid cylinder, wear and tear on the gears, the suction valve and press closed and the electric motor coil burning. The dump tank lacked lubrication due to oil the occurrence of leaks caused by damaged gaskets and worn drain holes,seal damage caused by installation that is not center, the gears experience wear caused by insufficient lubrication and broken locking pins, and suction valves closed press caused by dirty filters, burnt electric motor spillscaused by feeling the stator, lack of lubrication on the bearings and statorshort connected to the frame.Therefore regular and systematic checks and repairs onpump components are needed to prevent implementation of plunger congestion so that the plunger pump works normally.
