Abstract
The problem in this writing is what role the harbourmaster has in optimizing the Safety and Security of Shipping in Indonesia. This paper concludes the duties of the harbourmaster in the security and safety of shipping under Indonesian law is as a law enforcement in the field of safety and security of Indonesian shipping, as the head of government in the port or coordinator of all activities in the port, as the supervisor and person in charge of shipping security and safety in Indonesia, and as the publisher of shipping documents. The purpose of this paper is to find out how the role of harbourmaster and authority office class 1 Tanjung Emas Semarang in optimizing the safety and security of shipping in the port area. The methods used in this paper are observation methods, interviews and literature methods. So, it can be concluded that the role of the Harbourmaster Office and Port Authority Class 1 Tanjung Emas Semarang in Optimizing The Safety and Security of Shipping is running well and carried out in accordance with procedures.
