Abstract

Traffic congestion is a decrease in the level of smooth flow of traffic on roads and greatly affects travelers, whether using public transportation or private vehicles, this causes inconvenience and increases travel time (Sumadi in Kurniati, 2015). This research was conducted to determine how the effect of side barriers, road conditions, traffic flow and economic growth on traffic jams that occur on Jalan Jendral Sudirman Ambarawa. The population in this study were the riders who crossed or used Jalan Jendral Sudirman Ambarawa as their transportation route. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling with the type of sampling, namely Insidential sampling. The analytical method used is quantitative analysis, the data were analyzed using bargain linear regression analysis with the help of (Software) Statistics Package for Social Science (SPSS). The results of this study indicate that the variables side friction, traffic infrastructure, road service performance and economic growth have a positive and significant effect on traffic congestion. The results of multiple linear regression analysis obtained the equation Y = 1.458 + 0.442X1 + 0.149X2 + 0.178X3 + 0.172X4 + µ. From the multiple linear regression equation, it can be seen that the most dominant variable that affects traffic congestion is the side friction variable with a regression coefficient of 0.442 and with an Adjusted R Square test of 0.560 or 56.0% which means that the variable traffic jams on the road Jendral Sudirman Ambarawa is influenced by side friction variables, road conditions, traffic volume and economic growth of 56.0% and other factors that affect traffic congestion other than the factors studied are 44.0%. Keywords: Side Barriers, Road Conditions, Traffic Flow, Economic Growth, Traffic Congestion.
