Abstract

A forging machine is a machine that is used to work metal by heating and then forming it by forging, namely hitting, bending, grinding and so on until the desired shape is obtained. Heating is done by burning it in hot coals until the metal turns reddish. This observation was carried out at PT. Doc and Shipping Surabaya for 4 months. The quantitative descriptive method used is the data writing procedure through observation, interview and literature techniques. Sources of data obtained directly from PT. Doc and Shipping Surabaya with direct observation through checking and measurement, manual books and literature from several journal articles related to the title of the paper. Every equipment that moves and is operated is always damaged, this is due to objects that friction each other. However, this can be anticipated by understanding how to operate and maintain it. In order for the forging engine to operate properly, maintenance is necessary. This treatment is carried out to minimize the damage that occurs to the forging engine when it is operated.
