Abstract
Air pollution is one of the problems that facing the global community today, including in the maritime sector, the problem of pollution is very important to be a concern. Because the prevention of air pollution is very important so it is regulated in MARPOL 73/78 attachment VI first adopted in 1997, limits the main air pollutants contained in ships. The source of air pollution originating from KM SIMORE main engine exhaust gas is one of the things that is a matter of great concern so it must be given a way of prevention, especially how to prevent exhaust leakage of the main engine so as not to cause air pollution. The main objective of this research is to completely eliminate pollution generated by ships from the marine environment and minimize an accidental discharge or an unintentional waste disposal due to ship activities at sea The results of observations of land practice are carried out with qualitative methods that determine problems, conduct literature studies, data collection and analysis so that in this problem prevention of air pollution on ships by convert high sulfur fuel to low sulfur fuel. in addition, the PMS (Plant Maintenance System) on the engine system related to ship exhaust gas.
