Abstract
Traffic congestion is influenced by several factors including Traffic Characteristics, Road Conditions and Side Obstacles. There is an increase in the number of vehicles with unbalanced road growth, so that besides causing congestion it can also cause traffic accidents. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an effect of traffic characteristics, road conditions and side obstacles on traffic jams on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Pekanbaru City. In this study, the population of the study is traffic jams on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Pekanbaru City with a sampling system of 100 respondents (sample). The variables in the study consisted of: Traffic Characteristics independent variable (X.1), Highway Conditions (X.2), and Side Obstacles (X.3) and the dependent variable was Traffic Congestion (Y). The research model is multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the analysis with the statistical tools of the SPSS V.22 program obtained multiple linear regression equations Y = 0.533+ 0.223X1 + 0.460X2 + 0.245X3 + µ. The results of multiple linear equations show that there is a positive and significant influence between Traffic Characteristics on Traffic Congestion (t count 2.580> t table of 1,98472), Highway Conditions to Traffic Congestion (t count 4.047> t table of 1,98472), Side Barriers to Traffic Congestion (t count 2.597> t table of 1,98472), individually, Traffic Characteristics, Road Conditions and Side Barriers affect Traffic Congestion. The effect of the three research variables is very strong with the coefficient value (R Square) obtained by 61.9% on Traffic Congestion and 38.1% influenced by variables that are not detected in this study.
