Abstract
The role of the shahbandar in handling shipping safety and security, one of which is in the field of sea transportation. This is what causes the cruise needed a variety of support, supervision, and maintenance. The writing of this paper aims to explain the role of the harbor to the safety of shipping in the waters of Banten. There are several background problems that the author must resolve, namely, how the duty of the shahbandar in handling security and safety of shipping is based on Indonesian law, the shahbandar effort in increasing human resources who care about safety on board, how the sailing permit issuance process is carried out, how to handle the seaport. ship. Based on data observations made during land practice (prada), the author uses several methods, namely, observation, interviews, document analysis, literature study and documentation. The result of the discussion of this paper problem is the role of the shahbandar in the supervision and security will run smoothly if the staff of the employees provide reliable and highly capable national sea transportation services and meet national and international standards.
