Abstract
THE EFFORTS TO IMPROVE SHIP WORTHYNESS AND THE SAFETY OF SHIPS THROUGH PORT CLEARANCE BY KUPP KELAS III JUWANA KUPP role is the implementation of port administrators carrying out the security and safety functions of shipping, such as determining whether or not the ship departs from a port to another port in Indonesian waters. KUPP has the authority to issue port clearances. The issuance of a port clearence is a process of supervision carried out by the port authority on ships that will sail away from the port. The purpose of study is to find out the efforts to improve ship worthiness and the safety of ships through port clearance by KUPP kelas III Juwana,because there are a lot of documents that must be completed in issuing the port clearance. It is also needed the commitment of regulators, operators, and servis user to make safety culture as a necessary to improve the safety of shipping safety. The method used in study is the observation method, interview method, and documentation method in the KUPP Kelas III Juwana. The result of this study that the efforts to improve ship worthiness and the safety of ships through port clearance by KUPP Kelas III Juwana has been done by inspect the ship and the ship document as detail as possible. After that, the effort to increase the feasibility of the ship's sea and shipping safety will be in accordance with what is expected. Keywords : port clearence, seaworthiness, harbour master
