Abstract

Manouvering the ship can be interpreted as the control of the ship either in alongside or moving to achieve the purpose of safe and efficient of navigating, by using the means contained on the ship such as engines, steering and others. The ship motion depends internal and external factors such as propulsion, steering, the shape of a ship under the waterline and its upper form, weather conditions, draft, current or tidal conditions. In general, the theory of manouvering a ship we can learn well if we understand the factors that affect the movement of the ship. But the practical experience in shipbuilding is an ability that is very high value and useful in the motion of the ship. Therefore the combination of theory and practical for seafarers is the ideal and necessity. Many people know the theory of ship manouvering but with a lack of practice experience will bring huge losses. As a recommendation to the seafarers should not exercise the motion of the ship without procedure, but every movement should be done with calculations, precise estimates, high responsibility and discipline. There is one belief that when sailors or prospective seafarers do the above suggestions, the movement of the ship at every opportunity will be carried out and bring the ship well, safely and safety. Key Words : Manouvering, Engine, Steering, Weather, Current state, Draft
