Abstract
The importance of the role of safety equipment on board in accordance with Safety Management System (SMS) is a matter that must be implemented because it becomes a very important factor for safety in carrying out every activity in a shipping company or related institution in carrying out activities within the company concerned in creating safety. The role of the intended means of safety is in the broadest sense, so as not to be confined to personal safety but to create safety for work activities of checking, maintaining and maintaining navigation aids to create a safe delivery which can be enjoyed for every voyage in the territory the work of Class II Navigation District is semarang. Work safety is one of the absolute factors that must be met, aims to determine the requirements and requirements of safety equipment standards so that the crew can work safely and maximally, and the last core of the work problems are checks, maintenance and maintenance of tools Navigation and safety eqiupment. Checking of Navigation aids such as beacon, beacon, spot noise, guiding beacon, referrer beacon and intermediate wave radio signage stations where checks, maintenance and maintenance are performed when these navigational aids are occurring problems such as errors or damages and tools safety equipment. And supported by good safety equipment and adequate according SOLAS '74 (Safety Of Life At Sea 1974). To maintain the safety equipment that belongs to the Class II Navigation District Semarang to be in good condition and ready to be used anytime, therefore the Class II Navigation District of Semarang must perform maintenance periodically in accordance with the procedures and rules contained in SOLAS '74 (Safety Of Life At Sea 1974) on Safety Equipment. This is done to support the safety of existing work, in the effort of maintaining the navigation aids to create the safety of the shipping in the work plot of the Class II Navigation District of Semarang.
